winter cycling ain't worth it
I started riding fixed gear last summer. Love it. When the season ended, I bought winter tires as well so I could keep cycling. Unfortunately I've come to the conclusion that fixed gear cycling, in Finland, in winter time is not worth it.
- Changing tires is no big task but I absolutely hate it
- Unless the roads have just been plowed, riding is not fun
- You're gonna freeze anyway
- Thus, needing tons of clothing to stay alive
- It's so much slower than in summer
- Due coldness and snow, your bike needs more maintenance
